Designing for the thumb first
Why every homepage we make starts life on a phone screen.
For most of our clients, more than two thirds of visitors arrive on a phone, usually from a social post or a message. So we sketch the mobile homepage before the desktop one. On a small screen you can’t hide behind big layouts, which forces the hard choices early: what matters most, what can wait and what can go.
Designing this way changes the desktop version too. Sections get shorter, headlines get sharper and buttons sit where thumbs can reach them. When we scale up to a wide screen, we add breathing room and imagery rather than more content. The site ends up calmer everywhere, and people find what they came for faster.
