The one-page brand guide
Most small teams don’t need a sixty-page PDF. They need one honest page.
Big brand books look impressive in a presentation and then sit unopened in a shared drive. For small teams, we’ve found that one well-designed page beats sixty. It holds the logo and when to use it, the colours with their codes, the two typefaces, a handful of do’s and don’ts, and a few example layouts people can copy.
The trick is choosing what to leave out. If a rule only matters once a year, it can live in a longer appendix. The single page should answer the questions people ask every week: which logo goes on dark backgrounds, what the button colour is, how headlines should look. When the guide fits on a fridge, people actually follow it.
